Digital Transgender Archive
Miss Major Griffin-gracy, spoke to Trans Oral History Project about her fierce trans identity being fiercely visible. This visibility was recognized by the police who beat and arrested her at the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, and it is recognized in the youth of today as a model of lifelong trans identity, a model absent and desired by Miss Major in her girlhood. In this clip, Miss Major explains that life is a transition for all gender identities, and that our trans youth should have opportunities to live happy and grow old.
