Digital Transgender Archive
Chad Pitts identifies as a straight transgender man assigned female at birth. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona and now lives in Fargo, North Dakota as a student at NDSU, North Dakota State University, and works at North Dakota State College of Science where he is out as trans. He came out at 18 as a lesbian to his parents since he didn’t have a word to describe how he was feeling at the time. He didn’t identify with his body and found that he was attracted to women. His girlfriend at the time, who he later married, went through the entire transition process with him. She was taking a human sexuality class at the time and invited him along when they discussed gender identity. That was the first time he learned about it and then he came out later that night. He was also one of the co-coordinators for Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict’s conference on Dismantling Walls Conference in Fargo, North Dakota, at North Dakota State University.
