Digital Transgender Archive
Dona Ewing shares stories about growing up in Crookston, MN and making a home in the Twin Cities. Dona worked for 22 years at the Gay 90’s, a Minneapolis club, as a coat check and shares stories about the people, the culture, and the time. In this oral history, Dona recounts experiences with gender identity at a young age, the relationships with Dona’s siblings; being one of the first people to transition at the University of Minnesota Medical Center; and losing people to substance abuse and the AIDS epidemic.
