John Lindstrom (1877-1940). "? Lind", as he was usually billed (with the question mark used to denote gender ambiguity, this time preceding the surname) was a Swedish female impersonator who toured the world with his wife, appearing to great critical acclaim all over Europe, Scandinavia and the United States before World War I. Testament to his popularity in London is the fact that his photographs were published by the Rotary Company, which generally publicised better-known artists, and produced postcards in very large print runs. He retired in 1923. He was noted for his classical dancing abilities, and the tiny waist achieved with the help of corsetry
